Hello and welcome to the first blog post of Skirt Society. My name is Jennifer Pathmann, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to write for the Skirt Society blog. We are so happy you’re here and we hope you stick around. It is our goal that you are edified, motivated and encouraged by the different content you’ll find here.
Today’s blogpost is a reflection of the verse that asks this question: “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Our body was created by God and belongs to God. We are expected to take great care of and be good stewards of the temple God gave us.
Are you careful what you put in your body AND on your body? Do you know that everything you put on or in your body has a lasting effect on your health and wellbeing?
Have you ever considered that your clothing could be contributing to the negative hormone shift you’ve been experiencing or sudden decline of your health?
Consider this. Polyester, Spandex, and many other fabrics are made of plastic fibers. These plastic fibers are leeching out an immeasurable amount of harmful and toxic chemicals and microplastics onto your skin which then transfers into your bloodstream. These microplastics can wreak havoc on the body.
Take my story for example. I didn’t know polyester, spandex and elastane were petroleum based plastic fibers until last year. I began to get rashes and itchy on my skin all over when I would wear certain blouses and dresses but I didn’t know why. Nothing could satiate the itching and nothing would stop the rashes from showing up all over. Another thing I noticed was I struggled with breathing and kept feeling like I was gasping for air. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong until finally I started noticing a pattern. I consistently would not feel itchy and wouldn’t get rashes or feel out of breath when I would wear cotton.
It wasn’t until a few months after noticing this pattern that I came across someone on Instagram discussing this very topic and the reasoning behind it. She explained how the plastic fibers are toxic and cause microplastics to seep into the skin and bloodstream when wearing garments made of those fibers. She also explained that each fabric resonates at a different frequency. Plastics, because they are man made and not natural, don’t carry a high frequency at all. They carry the frequency of a dead body which is between 0 and 15 Hertz.
Cotton, on the other hand, resonates at a frequency of between 70 and 100 Hertz. The human body’s base frequency is around 100 Hertz, naturally, making cotton a great choice for clothing. Linen and wool both vibrate around 5,000 Hertz making these fabrics great options for wearing as well. The higher vibration, natural fabrics cause the body to also vibrate at a higher frequency, which promotes healing and overall wellness. Wearing plastic, low frequency clothing causes the body stress and fatigue and to be more prone to disease. Upon learning all of this and experiencing the itchiness and rashes and trouble breathing myself, I made the decision to switch over my entire wardrobe, along with my bedding also, to only pieces made of cotton and linen fabrics. I no longer get rashes from my clothing and I’m so thankful God led me to discover these facts so I could make the necessary changes.
This revelation was not just presented to me, but to Skirt Society as well. And after learning this vital information, Skirt Society answered the call to step up to a higher standard and offer only non-toxic clothing made of 100% natural fibers. To our knowledge, this new clothing line will be the first of its kind focusing on modest yet fashionable apparel without having to compromise your health. We are excited to launch out into this new endeavor and we hope you are just as excited as we are.
All of this brings me to this thought. The Bible has the answers to all of life’s dilemmas AND the Bible is always right. Even way back in the Old Testament, there are references of people making their clothing of wool and linen. Leviticus chapter 6 even tells us the priests wore linen garments and it is detailed in Exodus chapter 39 that the ephod they wore was made of “fine twined linen.” There are many more passages of Scripture referencing this topic of clothing along with specific instructions that we may stop to analyze in a future blogpost.
I am passionate about helping other women on their wellness journey and Skirt Society is passionate about offering only healthy and non-toxic clothing. God led us to cross paths and we have now joined forces to educate as many as we can of this discovery that can make a dramatic difference in someone’s health and life. Thank you for joining us in this exciting new chapter of Skirt Society. What an honor it will be as a modest clothing company to supply you with beautiful apparel while having a clear conscience knowing our clothing is supporting the health and wellness of all our lovely customers. We are looking forward to all God has in store for our company as we navigate this new path. May God bless each of you ladies and may God bless the future of Skirt Society.
