A thankful heart:
Hi, gals! Hope this Wednesday evening finds you well. This is our first night post for skirt society! Better late than never. The reason this week is later than usual is because God has been doing some big things in my life and I have been busier than normal.
Today I want to talk a little bit about these "big things".
I'm breaking down all the blessings in my life and having a thankful heart.
So not long ago I started working with Skirt Society featuring a tulle skirt and a cheetah skirt early late last year on my blog. When Michelle approached me to work together I was blown away that a brand wanted to collaborate with me! It was my first big offer and I was over the moon excited! (I mean OVER THE MOON!!!) I began contemplating what piece I wanted to feature on 1998miss.com and why in the world Skirt Society wanted to give me the opportunity to work with them. I, of course, began to thank Jesus for the moment the opportunity came about but I honestly couldn’t believe it was happening. You see I have been blogging for almost 4 years now, pouring out my heart, learning the ropes, investing my time in 1998miss.com and I felt like finally, someone saw that. I’ve come along way in my walk with God and with my journey to modesty in that time. (You can see that if you go back to my first posts on 1998miss.com.) So what started as a labor of love and a passion was finally turning into an opportunity. You might think it’s silly but I prayed about my blog growing just as I pray for finding a future husband... (lol that sounds a little bit silly) but I honestly from the beginning asked God to use my blog as a platform for his kingdom. I had no idea how long it would take me but I had faith that God would bless my endeavors if I gave them to him with a heart for his will. You see 1998miss.com was something I started when I felt a desire to dress modestly on an individual basis. It wasn’t because of any reason other than I wanted to please God because I finally saw the beauty in living separately. So from the beginning, God started a work and 4 years later he was giving me the opportunity I had been praying for. Soon after I featured those two skirts I began to see more growth. I also began to meet so many new people in the modest fashion industry. A little while later sweet Michelle approached me to start contributing to the Skirt Society platform with blog posts. I literally couldn’t believe it-God is SO FAITHFUL- but before accepting the opportunity I took some time to pray about it. I sincerely gave it to God and said, Lord, if this is something you want me to do help give me the words. Y’all I was excited but also nervous because I had never been a contributor to any other blog than my own. God began to show me in that working with Skirt Society was a part of his plan and that he would help me along the way. So I agreed with Michelle and soon became good friends with her. (Y’all she is the most precious lady on the planet and her family is SO beautiful). The community of women I began to engage with was so encouraging and I felt extremely blessed that God had taken my small little platform to something as beautiful as writing for Skirt Society.
You see God honored my prayers. He knew the desires of my heart and I trusted him from the beginning. Even when my blog wasn’t doing well and my mom was literally the only one reading my posts God had a purpose with those. I needed time to get my feet under me. I needed time to grow in my journey to modesty and he needed to see that I could have a thankful heart where I was.
Now here we are at blog post number 15. Many, many, many beautiful Skirt Society pieces later and it’s still just little old me. God saw my heart and made a way. So where ever you are in your journey whether that be on a youtube channel, a blog, your Instagram account, your job, your schooling-whatever it is to know God sees where you are and has a plan to be your help. If your dream is to excel where you are or to grow...pray about it because God will use anyone. He wants to give you the desires of your heart but you first must have a thankful heart. You must trust God with the NOW so he can work in the FUTURE. Let me tell y’all...his work in my journey is just starting and that's because I’m not afraid to dream big but I also understand if something doesn’t work out it’s because it wasn’t God’s will.
We have to have a thankful heart in the NOW.
In just a week’s time, I’ll be doing something on an even larger scale for the kingdom because I said, God, this is for your glory from the beginning. Literally, it blows my mind that God is opening windows, doors and placing all the puzzle pieces precisely where they belong just before I turn 21. I let God’s purpose fuel my passions and then it’s like everything aligned.
So be patient where you are and have a thankful heart because trust me sista GOD HAS BIG THINGS IN STORE FOR YOU. He sees where you are and you have to trust his timing, his plan and his purpose for your life. When you do he will use you in ways you can’t even imagine!
I love you Skirt Society gals and the biggest thank you goes to Michelle for giving me this opportunity, for believing in me, for investing in me and for collaborating with me on the trip which is going to impact my whole future. <3
