When God Says “No”

When God says “no”!

Welcome back to The official Skirt Society Blog! We’re so glad you’re here and if you haven’t already make sure to check out some of the beautiful clothes available under collections!

Hey, gals! Happy HUMP DAY!!!!! Below is a picture of me living my best life and on a camel in the middle of Dubai desert during Dubai modest fashion week. ;) I thought it would be fitting to share LOL.

Today’s topic is one we can ALL relate to because at least once in everyone’s life God has told them “no”. What we do after that “no” is essential and it can really affect our futures if we are not careful.

So God told you “no”. He didn’t come right out and say “no” in a big loud voice but you know that’s what he means. How did you know he said “no”? Depending on the situation and context everyone might discover this a little bit differently. For me sometimes it takes sitting still and listening to God’s voice instead of running around like a chicken with her head cut off. (metaphorically of course) Sometimes it comes right out and smacks me in the face but this occurrence is rare. Most of the time God tells me “no” after prayer by showing me in my everyday life. It might be that a situation doesn’t work out as planned and I see that as a “no”. It could also be that I have prayed “God if this isn’t you will shut it down” and so he does. That isn’t always immediate, it could be days later but when God shuts it down I have to trust him. Sometimes I have to listen for a few days but eventually, I know what God wants me to do because he guides my heart. It may seem crazy but in literally everything I do I pray “God if this isn't’ your will, I don’t want it”. I do this because I know after 21 years of life that there is nothing sparkly enough for me to not want what God has for me more. He is literally the creator of the world so why would I ever not TRUST him!!! (most likely I stop trusting God because I’m too focused on myself and I’m not spending enough time in God’s word) So for me, it’s always pretty clear when God says “no” and that may be because I ask him to spell it out for me so I’m certain. I highly recommend you do this because I promise you the moment I started praying for God to work in my life, for God’s will to be my will...miracles started happening. Things that would literally BLOW YOUR MIND!!!

So after I know that something isn’t God’s will in my life or very simply hear his “no” what do I do?

Do I react in flesh and get angry with God? Sometimes, I’m not going to lie this has happened before. Do I say okay God you’re right, I trust you. Sometimes I do that too. Do I say God what do you mean, yeah I say that too? Sometimes I even say but God if your answer is “no” that might mean I’m going to be single forever or miss out on an opportunity for fun etc. The list could go on and on because honestly just like every other person it’s hard for me to always understand what God is doing when he is saying “no”. Depending on how I’m feeling after I hear “no” really affects how I will react but no matter how upset I am....how many times I question God, I eventually say THY WILL BE DONE. I pray that God would help me understand his “no” and give me the strength to do the things I must do because the answer is “no”. This always helps me to at least feel better and try to overcome the flesh that we all have. If I’m still struggling with the “no” I will fast about the issue, because it means I am struggling to submit to God. Typically after fasting I generally completely surrender my emotions and feelings, apologizing to God for saying I trust him then trying to control his response.

In the moments that I react with flesh questioning Jesus are the times that I bring on myself more confusion and trouble. Especially during these times, I wish that I would have just truly trusted God as I told him I did in the beginning. Another thing is that with the will of God comes complete peace and let me tell you if you're not feeling peace IT IS NOT GOD! Literally more times than not this is how I know what God’s will for my life is. For example with China and Africa, I didn’t once feel uneasy same with Sewanee. God will go with you, beside you and give you peace.

SO TRUST HIM EVEN IN THE “NO” BECAUSE HE IS SAVING YOU FROM SOMETHING THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU. YES EVEN THAT CANDY COATED, SPARKLY TREAT YOU THINK YOU NEED (OR THAT COULDN’T BE BAD FOR YOU) COULD BE WHAT LEADS YOU DOWN THE WRONG ROAD. THAT CUTIE PIE THAT SEEMS TO BE A REALLY GOOD BOY COULD BE WHAT CAUSES YOU TO lose TRUTH. THAT PARTY THAT SEEMS LIKE A GREAT SOCIAL OPPORTUNITY COULD BE WHERE YOU MAKE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE. TRUST GOD HE KNOWS, HE ALWAYS KNOWS! HE HAS SOMETHING EVEN GREATER FOR YOU. SOMEONE EVEN GREATER FOR YOU!

So yes, I do truly ONLY WANT GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE but just like you, I am human and STILL STRUGGLE. I wanted to share that struggle with you today because I felt God prompt my heart as I deal with him saying “no” in my life.

Encouragement:

Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Psalm 46:10 ESV
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Psalm 28:7 ESV
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

Matthew 6:25 ESV
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Romans 8:28 ESV
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Psalm 112:7 ESV
He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.

Joshua 1:9 ESV
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Mark 5:36 ESV
But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”

Isaiah 26:3 ESV
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

  • God bless you sister,

For the past few weeks I’ve been fighting and tuggin with the Lord, his answer was no and I kept telling everyone “ He’s not really saying no but he’s just telling me to watch over my heart” but I knew deep down he was saying “no” I didn’t want to believe it. Literally I kept resisting and resisting to the point where I no longer looked like the light of world because I started loosing my relationship so I no longer was showing fruit as well… when He only wants what’s best for me Psalms37 speaks about how He knows the petition in your heart, and how He is close to the broken hearted. And again I came across this site for clothing, but something drew me to go into blogs kind of wanted to hear testimonies but God knows everything, Amen. God is good and he’s a great Father. 💖

For those who come across this post and you feel alone, you’re not; Jesus loves you, accept him as your only Savior and let the Holy Spirit guide you and watch over you. You are still on time. God bless you
